HUB Sports Center provides P.E., academic programs to supplement virtual learning

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Do your kids need a place to have fun and experience hands-on learning during the virtual school year?

The HUB Sports Center might just be the place.

They’re offering a variety of programs students and families this fall to make the school year feel a little more normal.

The HUB says it’s always been about positively impacting the community.

And usually, it’s through sports programs.

But now, the Center is expanding to meet the needs of schools in the area.

Monday through Thursday, the HUB has an after-school program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

It’s a safe space for them to get active, hang out and play games while 30 minutes each day is devoted to studying and homework.

(Reuters) – Apple Inc rolled out a new virtual fitness service and a bundle of all its subscriptions, Apple One, focusing a holiday-season product launch on services that are the backbone of Apple’s growth strategy and that cater to customers working at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apple also introduced a new Apple Watch Series 6 that monitors blood oxygen and will cost $399 and a more basic Apple Watch SE for $279.

But the bevy of incremental updates to existing hardware and subscription price tinkering disappointed investors, with Apple shares closing up 0.2%.

Elyssa Katz, a Santa Monica mother of three, is growing a matchmaking service to connect families with tutors, or “Zutors”, as she calls them – a word she’s in the process of trademarking.

“The role of a Zutor is a tutor, a nanny, and an angel for a parent,” Katz told the Guardian, someone who can take over parental demands, help children with online homework and take them outside when it’s time for “recess”.

Katz’s clients range from the rich and famous, to everyday people who need childcare because they can’t look after their children while they have to work. Katz said she had gotten calls from parents as far away as the Hamptons.

Modernism Week Considers Virtual Fall Preview: Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Modernism Week has announced that due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and state and city regulations, it has decided to not offer in-person events for the upcoming Fall Preview, scheduled for October 15-18.

Instead, online virtual programming that would be accessed from the Modernism Week website is under consideration.

“As we continue to review current health guidelines and make plans for the Fall Preview, it has become clear that it will not be possible for us to present live events in the fall,” said J. Chris Mobley, Modernism Week chief executive officer. “Instead, we hope to create a sampling of online virtual programs that will be educational, engaging and entertaining.”

Denver Public Schools Offer New Details On Virtual Learning

DENVER—Denver Public School officials are preparing for three learning scenarios that will likely vary throughout the school year as health conditions and guidance change as a result of the coronavirus.

The upcoming fall semester will start off with fully remote learning, with the hope of offering in-person learning to families in early September, according to district officials.

“We are preparing for a school year that will offer a fully virtual learning option for families who want it, in addition to as much in-person learning as conditions allow, based on the guidance of our health partners,” school officials said in a letter to parents.

The annual comedy festival, held in Montreal, will forego its typical crowds for an online venue in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. District To Offer More In-Person, Virtual Programs

WILL COUNTY, IL — As the state moves to Phase 4 of the governor’s Restore Illinois plan amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Forest Preserve District is offering more in-person programs for those who want to venture out, as well as additional online offerings for those who would rather enjoy entertaining and educational nature programs from the comfort of their homes.
