Inside the Award-Winning Mind of of Cosmetic Dentist Dr. John Badolato

Dr. John Badolato knows how to manifest success. He grew his dental practice from a start-up to a budding franchise working with countless clients as well as professional sports teams.

“Mindset is everything,” says Badolato. “If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t — it’s that simple.”

As the owner of Studio B Smiles, Dr. Badolato is the official dental provider for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association, Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball.

He has also achieved many outstanding accolades including Top Cosmetic Dentist honors by Phoenix Magazine and Ranking Arizona on an annual basis. Badolato is also a member of the “Top 40 Under 40” as chosen by the Phoenix Business Insider.

Dr. Badolato states that his biggest success has been scaling his business to the elite level it is now. Since opening the doors to his flagship business in 2004, Badolato and his team have increased revenues exponentially each year.

He credits his experience failing in other avenues as a major factor leading to his successes. Badolato stated, “You have to understand that failure is inevitable. No person or business is perfect. Sometimes you have to fail several times to find the strategy that actually works. You have to go into creating a new business with the mindset that you are determined to get back up, no matter what, anytime you get knocked down.”

Dr.Badolato strongly believes that failure is only fuel to improve. “Every time I have failed or made a mistake, I have learned a valuable lesson that has helped me move forward and be successful in my business,” he says. He mentioned his biggest mistake was devoting all of his time and energy to his business, leaving little time to appreciate the special moments in life. “I didn’t have an ideal work-life-balance when I first started,” says Badolato. “After my family and friends helped me restore a proper balance, my practices grew bigger than they ever have.”

Badolato currently owns and operates two practices. His first business is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the second in Downtown Phoenix, right between the Talking Stick Arena and Chase Field where the Suns and Diamondbacks play. Plans for a third practice have begun, as Dr. Badolato plans to open an office in Arcadia in affiliation with the Phoenix Suns new practice facility.

A devoted sports fan, Badolato saw potential in partnering with giant corporations such as the NBA and MLB. “I thought it would be amazing if I could ever put myself in a position where I could take care of local athletes and their families,” says Badolato. Speaking of helping people, he often offers advice for dentists who aspire to follow in his footsteps. “Follow your passion,” he emphasized. “If you know you have a better way to do something, try it. Don’t let fear stop you; Don’t take no for an answer, be persistent.”
